We do not sell, rent, or trade donor names, postal addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, or donation histories to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

We may share donor information only:

  • With service providers that help us process donations or operate fundraising activities

  • When required by law
  • When necessary to prevent fraud or protect legal rights
  • With professional advisers subject to confidentiality obligations
  • In connection with a lawful organizational transaction

Donors may request anonymity in public donor-recognition materials by contacting ECI.

A request for public anonymity does not prevent ECI from retaining information required for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, audit, or legal purposes.

5. CHILDREN’S AND MINORS’ PRIVACY

ECI conducts programs and events that may benefit children. Our general website is intended for adults, parents, legal guardians, donors, volunteers, and community partners. It is not designed for children under 13 to submit personal information independently.

Children under 13 should not provide personal information through our website without the participation and authorization of a parent or legal guardian.

When information about a child is needed for an event or program:

  • The information should be submitted by the child’s parent or legal guardian.
  • We will seek to collect only information reasonably necessary to administer the event or program.
  • Information will be used for program administration, safety, eligibility, communication, and related nonprofit purposes.
  • We will not condition a child’s participation on providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
  • We will not knowingly sell or use a child’s personal information for targeted advertising.
  • Access will be limited to authorized personnel, volunteers, contractors, and service providers with a legitimate need for the information.

A parent or legal guardian may contact ECI to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information collected about their child, subject to applicable legal and recordkeeping requirements.

If we learn that a child under 13 submitted personal information without appropriate parental or guardian involvement, we will take reasonable steps to delete or appropriately restrict that information.

6. PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOS, AND TESTIMONIALS

ECI may photograph or record its programs, events, volunteers, and community activities for educational, historical, promotional, fundraising, or reporting purposes.

When appropriate, ECI will request a written or electronic media release before intentionally featuring an identifiable participant, particularly a minor.

We will not knowingly publish a child’s sensitive personal information, such as a home address, personal telephone number, financial information, or detailed eligibility information.

If you have concerns about an image or recording published by ECI, contact us at info@echadinitiative.org. We will review reasonable removal requests, although removal from materials already printed, distributed, archived, or shared by others may not always be possible.

Our website may also contain:

  • Embedded videos
  • Social-media features
  • Maps
  • Donation widgets
  • Registration forms
  • Third-party applications
  • Links to external websites

These third parties may collect information according to their own privacy policies. ECI does not control and is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or data practices of independently operated third-party websites or services.

We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party service you use.

10. EMAIL AND TEXT COMMUNICATIONS

If you provide your email address or telephone number, ECI may send communications concerning:

  • Donations and receipts

  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Community announcements
  • Fundraising campaigns
  • Newsletters
  • Safety or emergency information

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us.

If ECI offers text-message communications, consent to receive promotional text messages will not be a condition of making a donation or receiving services unless clearly disclosed and legally permitted. Message and data rates may apply.

Even if you unsubscribe from promotional communications, we may continue sending necessary transactional or administrative messages, such as donation receipts, registration confirmations, safety information, or responses to your requests.

11. DATA SECURITY

ECI uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

These safeguards may include:

  • Access restrictions
  • Password protections
  • Secure service providers
  • Staff and volunteer confidentiality practices
  • Encryption when supported by applicable systems
  • Record-retention procedures
  • Secure disposal practices
  • Fraud and security monitoring

No website, database, email system, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Therefore, ECI cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we discover a data-security incident, we will investigate it and provide any notices required by applicable law.

12. DATA RETENTION

ECI retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • Providing programs and services
  • Maintaining donation and tax records
  • Meeting accounting and audit requirements
  • Satisfying grant-reporting obligations
  • Resolving disputes

Retention periods may differ depending on the nature of the information and the reason it was collected.

When information is no longer reasonably required, ECI may securely delete, destroy, anonymize, or aggregate it.

Please include your name, contact information, and a clear description of your request.

We may need to verify your identity or authority before processing a request. A parent, guardian, or authorized representative may be required to provide reasonable proof of authority.

Certain information may be exempt from a request or retained when necessary to comply with legal, accounting, tax, security, or contractual obligations.

ECI will not unlawfully discriminate against an individual for exercising an applicable privacy right.

14. SALE AND SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

ECI does not sell personal information for money.

ECI also does not knowingly sell or share personal information belonging to children under 16 for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.

Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly enough to include certain advertising or analytics technologies. If ECI implements technology that is legally considered a sale or sharing of personal information, we will provide any notices and opt-out methods required by applicable law.

15. DO NOT TRACK AND PRIVACY-PREFERENCE SIGNALS

Some browsers allow users to send “Do Not Track” or other privacy-preference signals.

Because there is not one universally applied standard for all such signals, our website may not respond to every Do Not Track signal. ECI will honor legally recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals when required by applicable law and when our website technology is capable of recognizing them.

16. SENSITIVE INFORMATION

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, full financial-account numbers, medical records, government identification numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive information through a general website contact form or ordinary email unless ECI specifically requests the information and provides an appropriate submission method.

If ECI must collect sensitive information for a particular program, we will seek to limit its collection, use, and disclosure to the applicable program purpose.

17. INTERNATIONAL VISITORS

ECI is based in Nevada, United States. If you access our website from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or another country where our service providers operate.

Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws in your country. Where applicable law requires additional protections, ECI will take reasonable steps to provide them.

18. NEVADA PRIVACY RIGHTS

Nevada residents may have rights concerning certain covered information under Nevada law, including the right to submit a verified request directing an operator not to make a covered sale of covered information.

ECI does not sell personal information for monetary consideration as that term is ordinarily understood. Nevertheless, Nevada residents may submit a verified opt-out request using the contact information in this Privacy Policy.

19. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our website may contain links to third-party websites for informational, donation, registration, social-media, community-resource, or partner purposes.

A link does not necessarily mean that ECI endorses or controls the third party’s privacy practices. ECI is not responsible for information you provide directly to an independently operated website.

20. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

ECI may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our programs, website, technology, service providers, or legal obligations.

When we make changes, we will post the revised policy on our website and update the “Last Updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use previously collected personal information, we will provide additional notice or request consent when required by law.

We encourage visitors to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
